20×20 cm: Simple and graphic

This size works well for icons, initials, fruit, flowers, simple shapes, and one-colour motifs.

30×30 cm: Characters and patterns

This size works well for simple characters, food, animals, checkerboards, and playful patterns with clear outlines.

40×40 cm: Bold colour blocks

This size works well for large colour-block designs, bold lettering, bigger characters, and abstract shapes.

Practical design advice

For a first project, use two to five yarn colours. Avoid intricate portraits, fine text, tiny linework, detailed logos, and designs with many small colour changes. Our instructor can help simplify your idea.
