Choosing a Rug Size for Your First Tufting Workshop in Saigon

Not sure whether 20×20, 30×30 or 40×40 cm is right for your first rug? Choose a design that fits the time for your selected Tuft Saigon workshop.

Start with the design, not the size

A strong first design has clear outlines, large colour areas and a recognisable shape. Icons, initials, fruit, flowers, simple characters and bold patterns work well. For most first-time projects, two to five yarn colours is a comfortable starting point.

20×20 cm: small, quick and graphic

Choose this size for one icon, a short initial, a small flower, a fruit shape or a bold symbol. Keep outlines thick and avoid trying to fit too much detail into the canvas.

30×30 cm: room for a simple character or pattern

This size suits a simple cartoon-style character, a repeated pattern, a pet-inspired silhouette or a design with a few larger colour blocks.

40×40 cm: a bigger colour-block statement

Choose broad shapes and clear colour blocking rather than many small details. This size works well for a graphic design that needs more space to read from a distance.

Before you book

Bring a simple reference on your phone or as a printout. The 20×20 cm workshop runs for 3 hours, the 30×30 cm workshop for 4 hours, and the 40×40 cm workshop for 4 hours 30 minutes. Every workshop includes tools and yarn, and lets you take your finished rug home on the day. Sessions run Tuesday to Sunday with hourly starts from 10:00 to 16:00.
